Brighten Mask is bursting with raw fruit acids, enzymes, and vitamin C alongside essential cofactors to lighten hyperpigmentation and rejuvenate sun damaged skin. Its phytonutrients work to address the cause of discoloration, while strengthening and firming the skin. Brighten Mask is best suited to hyperpigmented skin, including sun damage and post-inflammatory scarring.
This product is one where whole plant science gets to shine. While there is no question that ascorbic acid benefits skin health, it is more powerful when in the presence of polyphenols, bioflavonoids, vitamin E, and other essential phytonutrients. All of these antioxidants are never found in nature without one another, and they all work synergistically in our whole plant Brighten Mask.
Camu Camu has one of the highest vitamin C concentrations of any fruit in the world. Combined with Acerola and Rosehip, which are high in vitamins C, E and A, these fruits immediately stand out for their ability to support collagen synthesis, brighten skin and reduce the appearance of scarring. Beyond this bounty of superfruits, herbs specific to sun damage and repair join this formula. Gotu Kola for connective tissue strength, Calendula for carotenoid repair and protection, and Comfrey for cell proliferation and regeneration – each carefully seeded and hand harvested miles from our apothecary lab. Frankincense resin promotes vibrant aging with its ability to deeply restore.
Camu Camu – Our raw, organically cultivated Camu Camu is one of the highest plant sources of vitamin C in the world. Because it’s in whole plant form it contains all of its beneficial cofactors and bioflavonoids that make ascorbic acid more effective. It has shown to support natural collagen production, brighten skin, and repair the cellular damage which leads to discoloration and loss of elasticity.
Rosehip Fruit – Rosehip fruit has a unique chemical make-up that includes high vitamin C content as well as vitamin E and vitamin A, making this fruit ideal for brightening and resurfacing. It has been studied at length for its ability to reduce the appearance of scars, encourage new cell growth, and minimize the appearance of fine lines by supporting collagen and connective tissue.
Frankincense – Our certified organic Frankincense is distilled in Vermont by a family who travels to Somalia each year for harvesting. This ingredient has been used used for centuries to revitalize and heal damaged skin. Its water soluble nutrients show a regulating and healing effect on cellular DNA.
Carrot Seed – This aromatic oil has proven to help prevent sun damage from occurring as well as repair UV damage related symptoms such as discoloration and loss of elasticity.

Apply 1 teaspoon or less of Brighten Mask to mask bowl, and trickle a bit of water in with your fingertips to preferred consistency. Mix with a brush into a slightly runny paste and allow to steep like tea for a few minutes. Allowing the Mask to steep will cause it to thicken and will further activate ingredients. Once ready to apply, moisten face and hands. Apply gently to face and neck with fingertips or preferably a mask brush. Leave on for 10-30 minutes, then rinse. Keep mask hydrated to keep mask active and to prevent drying on the skin. The longer the mask is left on the more frequently it will need to be rehydrated to stay active. Re-hydrate it with a brush, fingertips, or a mister bottle of water.
Brighten Mask can be applied to the full face and neck, or used to target areas and spot treat discoloration and hyperpigmentation.
Use within 12 months of opening and by the recommended use-by date, which is found on the bottom of the jar. Store this product in a cool, dry and dark place. Keep contents of jar dry and free from moisture.
Whole Plant Science + Vitamin C
We are one of the only “whole plant” green beauty brands in the industry, which means we do not utilize isolated lab made ingredients. We find real whole plants that contain both nutrients and their co-nutrients to be more beneficial.
Plants do not contain single isolated nutrients. Instead, plants contain hundreds of beneficial antioxidants, nutrients, vitamins and enzymes working together synergistically.
With the Brighten Mask, we can use ascorbic acid and flavonoids as an example of of a vitamin and a co-nutrient that have a synergistic and dependent relationship. Flavonoids work with the ascorbic acid to prevent its oxidation. They also work as sparing molecules with ascorbic acid, which means our cells need less ascorbic acid when flavonoids are present. Flavonoids often have dual solubility and help deliver ascorbic acid into our cells.
In Nature, you will never find one of those without the other, and this is just one example of whole plant synergy. It is not logical for us to rely on isolated nutrients when Nature has already successfully created whole and complete synergistic remedies better than we ever could. This is the smallest window into what “whole plant” means to us.
