Avocado Oil – This unrefined, forest green oil has sun protective properties from its abundance of nutrients and vitamins. It is specific for reducing dark spots and discoloration while softening skin.
Red Raspberry Seed Oil – This oil is widely regarded to provide significant protection against both UVA and UVB rays. Like all of our ingredients, quality is of the utmost importance for efficacy. Our RRS Oil is always certified organic, farmed in the United States, and cold pressed using patented technology to best preserve the phytonutrients within it that makes it so effective as a UV protector. It is high in essential fatty acids and is a valuable anti-inflammatory as well.
Coconut Oil – Unrefined raw Coconut Oil has been historically used as protection from the sun. It brings a richer texture with more staying power to this Body Oil, allowing the denser nutrients from lighter weight oils a slow steady delivery for longer lasting skin support.
Rosehip Oil – Our rare Rosehip Oil includes both Fruit and Seed extractions in order to provide both C and E Vitamins – both key to preventing and repairing sun damage. This vibrant oil reduces scarring and helps maintain healthy collagen and connective tissues.
Carrot Seed Oil – This soothing aromatic oil helps reduce irritation, as well as stimulates the skin’s healing response post-sun exposure.

For best results, apply Sun Body Oil to the body before and after time spent in the sun. When in full sun exposure for longer periods of time, reapply this product approximately 1x per hour. Each person’s skin is unique, and timing will differ for individuals. If this product is used in addition to a Zinc-based sunscreen, then the oil should be applied to the skin first, followed by the sunscreen afterwards.
It is important to keep in mind that organic oils do not work in the same way as physical zinc blocks or FDA approved sunscreens. They work by providing antioxidant support and reducing inflammation. They enhance our skin’s ability to maintain good health while in the sun. There are a multitude of factors which determine how an individual’s skin responds to the sun in a positive or negative way. When exploring this alternative to sun care it is important to know your body, health and skin well. Act with discernment, body wisdom and intuition.
Use within 6 months of opening and by the recommended use-by date, which is found on the bottom of the bottle. Store this product in a cool, dry and dark place.
Are Plants Sunscreen?
Sunscreens are made with FDA approved drugs, and plants are not widely regarded as drugs – whole plants are definitely not regarded as drugs by the FDA. Chemical compounds within plants are variable and can change from harvest to harvest, farm to farm, or processor to processor. While we cannot legally recommend using our products as sunscreens, there is still substantial evidence to support that specific plants with high antioxidant content will absolutely help to prevent sun damage from occurring.

Post Sun Ritual
Most of us have had the privilege of getting carried away on a sunny day: enjoying the ocean for a bit too long or getting caught up with friends during an extended summer picnic. For a short while, we don’t notice that our skin is starting to feel too warm and is looking pinker than it should. When that undoubtedly happens, my own favorite summer ritual can be used to prevent what can become a lingering sun burn.
First, take a quick cool shower, if needed (with minimal soap usage – as soap can increase irritation). Follow with a generous full body misting of our Chamomile Hydrosol for immediate anti-inflammatory and cooling action. Then apply the Sun Body Oil from neck to toe on damp skin. For an added boost, apply another spritz of Chamomile Hydrosol and a touch of Recovery Balm to those extra sun-kissed areas. While we will always experience those moments of getting carried away in the sun, this post-sun ritual can prevent the discomfort that often follows.
